Everything a child does is behavior. Some of it meets his needs and helps him participate in his environment. Some of it is disruptive. Is it he can’t do, or is it he won’t do? So how do we figure it out? We play detective and find out the purpose of the behavior. Children have feelings, they just need appropriate ways to share those feelings. An investigation called a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) to help us discover the function of the behavior and replace it.
